Zouk

Brazilian Zouk is a music genre and partner dance. It originated in Brazil, where it evolved from the traditional Lambada and gradually spread around the world. Today, Zouk is constantly evolving – adding new elements, techniques, and creative variations. A major advantage is that it can be danced to almost any music, from modern pop and R&B to lyrical or electronic tracks. Zouk is remarkable for its deep connection between partners, use of body weight, smooth waves, and characteristic head movements. It is a very versatile and free dance that offers immense room for self-improvisation, playing with rhythm, and expressing emotions.

In our classes, we start from the absolute basics with our Zouk 0 introduction lesson, where you’ll master the square structure, the side-to-side step, and get a feel for the rhythm and relaxed body movement. At the Zouk 1 level, we build on these foundations, expanding your repertoire of steps, turns, and direction changes, while focusing on key principles such as grounding, weight transfer, and movement projection. Gradually, we also introduce safe technique for head movements and a deeper connection with your partner.

Thanks to this approach, you will learn not only to dance with proper technique, but also to naturally react to the music, create your own creative dance, and enjoy Zouk at any party. Join us at DanceDifferent and discover the magic of Brazilian Zouk!
